Not only did Cookie work to bring the event to Parrish, she participated in the event with her chili cook off team, “The Chili Chicks”! With Cookie’s secret CHILI RECIPE, the Chili Chicks won the annual contest more than once!
From the humble beginnings and spending endless hours, Cookie, along with her fellow board members working on the annual fundraiser, in just 12 short years, the Parrish Foundation has donated to the many small local groups over $300,000.00!​Application enrollment is October 1st, through November 30th.Use the button below to find the eligibility requirements and application.

(continued from home page)Cookie’s community activism and leadership were evident as her involvement in the founding of the Parrish Foundation as a board member and officer (Secretary) of the board of directors. The Parrish Foundation was created to over see the board’s asset of the “Old Parrish School House” located on US 301 N. The Parrish Foundation’s board mission is to provide a funding source, be able to provide monetary grants to small local not for profit groups and organizations. Cookie was instrumental in establishing the Parrish Foundation’s grant program and chaired the annual grant application committee, to the evaluation and awarding of grants with the help of a few Parrish Foundation’s board members serving on this committee.​
In order to fund these grants, a fundraising event(s) was established and developed. The Parrish Foundation’s board including Cookie’s advise and guidance, created the Parrish Chili Off event held each year in March. Cookie was instrumental in this event conception, design and implementation that would grow into an substantial event, that was anticipated every year by the community.
